Development at Origin
Our close relationships with coffee growers around the world afford us daily opportunities to connect to diverse communities. As we visit farms and towns in different regions, we learn so much about the geography, culture, and people where our producer partners live. Through our sustainable Direct Trade coffee buying practices, we strive to help improve the quality of life, environment, and coffee in our partners' communities, thereby contributing to the long-term sustainability of these communities. Time and time again, we have seen that when we invest in a social or environmental development project—like building a school, purchasing equipment, or sponsoring a workshop—in a partner community, the quality of the coffee from that community improves. Projects like these are investments: they deepen our commitment to the partnerships we have at origin, strengthen farmers' connections to us as people and as business partners, and teach us where we can have the greatest impact.
